Imran expresses reservations over re-arrest of Shireen Mazari
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday equated the "oppression of his party workers to genocide in Nazi Germany".
Addressing supporters during a Twitter Spaces session, the deposed premier expressed his reservations over the re-arrest of party leader Shireen Mazari and said that such actions of the government show the 'plight of the powerful'.
Regarding the May 9 mayhem, Mr Khan said, "PTI has been advocating peaceful protests for the last 27 years. Why does the country's largest party want violence?"
– Govt petrified of elections –
Regarding the Punjab Assembly elections, Mr Khan said, "The government has blatantly violated the Supreme Court's order to hold the Punjab Assembly elections. The government is petrified of the elections."

"Whenever the law is broken, the powerful can do whatever they want. The doctrine of necessity comes into play, and the powerful ensure that this ideology works," he rued.
– Attack on Lahore Corps Commander House conspiracy against PTI –
Mr Khan claimed, "The attack on Lahore Corps Commander House is a conspiracy against PTI. The government is blaming it on PTI. Where is the CCTV footage?"
"There were already people inside the house. This is nothing but a conspiracy against us," he added.
– Elections vital for country –
Mentioning the importance of elections, Mr Khan said, "Elections are not the need of PTI, but the need of the country". Speaking about the talks with the government regarding holding elections, Mr Khan said, "We have tried a lot to start talks just for the elections. But they are afraid of the elections. But they put our leaders behind bars".
– Apex court will take stand –
Mr Khan predicted that "open opposition" to the judiciary would force the Supreme Court to "take a stand". He said, "I believe the apex court will save the country".

On Sunday, Mr Khan apprehended his arrest, saying that there was an 80 percent chance of his arrest on May 23.
In an interview with a foreign news channel, the deposed premier said, "Everything is being done to destroy our democracy. At this point, more than 10,000 workers have been arrested. My entire senior leadership team is in jail."
Speaking about former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Mr Khan said, "I worked with former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa before he switched horses".
"For the last six months of the PTI government, Bajwa worked to remove me and later claimed that I was a danger to the country," claimed Mr Khan.
Mr Khan said he firmly believes that the country needs a strong defence system.
Taking a jibe at the incumbent government, Mr Khan claimed, "The government wants to hit me because it is petrifying of the elections".
Referring to the assassination attempt on him, Mr Khan said, "I predicted that a religious fanatic will be sued to kill me like our governor was killed. My life is still in danger. "
He expressed his fear that the government will not hold elections in October, claiming, "The government is afraid that the PTI will come to power."
